Before You Descend
GRAIN ROT is built around co-op extraction: enter hostile spaces, recover useful resources, extract, and use the result to rebuild the Outpost. Solo and hosted Steam-lobby runs are both supported; there is no public matchmaking.
Steps or Conditions
- Choose solo or create a Steam lobby; there is no public matchmaking.
- Descend into hostile spaces and recover resources.
- Extract those resources so they can support rebuilding the Outpost and the next deeper attempt.
- Use the linked Progression, Vessels, repair, or multiplayer answer when a specific current-version condition needs more evidence.
Read the Risk
Solo is supported, but the official direction centers co-op chaos and launch updates only improved solo and small-group balance; they did not make solo the easiest mode. A broken Vessel is not the same as a conventional downed-player state, so use the current Vessels & Spark answer rather than assuming a standard revive loop.
When to Go Home
The verified loop establishes that bringing resources back matters; current official evidence does not establish a universal loot threshold, timer, or perfect extraction rule. This guide therefore does not publish an exact exit formula.
Use Multiplayer to set up the crew, Progression & Outpost when an unlock is unclear, and Vessels & Spark when the run changes after a body breaks.
