What We Know
Official guidance describes GRAIN ROT as balanced around roughly four players and does not define a fixed hard cap. The host setup and available hardware affect what a particular group can run.
Steps or Conditions
Start by planning around a four-player group. If your group is larger, have the host assess performance and join behavior in that specific session rather than using a community report as a capacity guarantee.
What Does Not Work
Do not rewrite “balanced around four” as “maximum four.” Do not promise that every setup supports six players because one community report described a stable six-player session.
Evidence and Limits
The no-fixed-cap and roughly-four balance statements come from the official FAQ. The six-player observation is a community report, which demonstrates possibility but not an official universal limit.
